Make Me A Musical is a new venture. Born out of my experience of ageing ungracefully! With themes of love, memory, loss, addiction, recovery and resilience. I want to explore what it's like to lose a lot and yet find something very new and special in late middle age. Much new music is created (beautifully and rightly) by young people but I think there's a space for someone to write about people in their 50s and beyond. The challenges and new hope we can encounter there.
All the songs in development can be found here:
The first live performance of what will probably be the penultimate number. This is written as a duet or possibly a quartet. Arranging is the next step!
Solo - a comic ragtime revenge number! Based on an actual conversation with an ex!
A song about recovery and perspective, noticing and being kind to yourself.
A character song from the perspective of a much older person with Alzheimer's. About the safety of memory.
A solo. This is a cover of my original song by the wonderful musician and folk singer - John Davies. It's about someone left by a long term partner in later life. I hope it shows that my material can be interpreted and arranged for other voices and instruments.
